Through Pigs' Eyes: See What It's Like to Live in a Gestation Crate

Pregnancy already comes with its natural discomforts. Now imagine being pregnant and confined to a cage just large enough for you to stand or uncomfortably lie down. You can't turn around. You're surrounded by others who are pregnant and suffering severe physical and psychological disorders due to intensive confinement: swaying, gnawing on cages, crying out to no one who cares.

Once you give birth, you're moved to a cage just large enough for you to lie down so that you can nurse your babies. Before long, they're taken away from you, mutilated without painkillers, and crammed into crowded pens until they're considered large enough to be killed for their meat. 

Then, the vicious cycle is repeated: you're impregnated and forced into a recurring nightmare of tremendous pain, suffering, loneliness and loss. And once your body is so used and abused, you're sent to slaughter. 

This is the reality for more than 70% of the nearly six million female pigs raised for breeding in the U.S.*
