Prevent Cruelty California -- 10 Days Left to Get Signatures for Measure to Ban Extreme Farm Animal Confinement

April 10, 2018 by The Ant's Meow in Causes, Factory Farming

Prevent Cruelty California is a grassroots campaign to ban the extreme confinement of farmed animals, specifically egg-laying hens, breeding pigs, and calves raised for veal. This campaign started last November—I was late in the game and just recently signed up a few weeks ago to join volunteers all over California in an effort to gather 365,000 signatures to get a measure on the November 2018 ballot that would ban the sale of products from such animals confined in cages.

Then, the vicious cycle is repeated: you're impregnated and forced into a recurring nightmare of tremendous pain, suffering, loneliness and loss. And once your body is so used and abused, you're sent to slaughter.

This is the reality for more than 70% of the nearly six million female pigs raised for breeding in the U.S.*
